Chocolat: Chocolat Hits Beta! →
chocolatapp:
Yay! It’s finally time for Beta1! Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new in this version:
Multicursor This is a pretty straightforward feature. Hold the ⌘ key to make multiple text selections, and hold the ⌥ key to insert multiple cursors. You can also do Block Selections by holding the ⌥…

Flatout 3: “20,000 Fully Destructible Objects” →
What really matters in a racing game is how much you can destroy stuff.
Because that’s what made Burnout awesome. Not the great arcade controls with which to smash things onto others.

Michael Sokol: Examining Dwemthy's Array composite... →
semweb:
Dwemthy’s Array is a 60 lines of code RPG-style adventure game written in Ruby as a part of Why’s Poignant Guide to Ruby to introduce meta-programming.
You’re a rabbit, and armed with your little boomerang, sword and bombs (!), you’re going to meet your doom and defeat Dwemthy’s Array, a…

Pokémon Mini hacking, flashcart →
tinycartridge:
For those of you who don’t remember the Pokémon Mini, it debuted in 2001 and is still the smallest handheld with interchangeable cartridges that Nintendo’s ever produced. The portable received only a handful of Pokémon-themed titles (e.g. Pokémon Tetris, Pokémon Breeder mini) for its tiny, black and white display.
I didn’t know it until today, but there’s a small development...

daily soundbytes™: nanoloop edition, April 13th
Today’s chiptuningz0r comes with a video.
I decided that I wanted to try a live jam and see what I could make out of just one-bank-and-a-half.
Enjoy!

daily soundbytes™: nanoloop edition, April 12th
Today’s soundbyte.
This is sort of a tribute to Lightning Bolt.
I fell in love with their attitude and energy, so I wanted to try my hand at some noisecore.
The production is really lacking and I didn’t get the sounds exactly as I wanted, but here it is anyway.

daily soundbytes™
Hello hello.
Today I’m introducing a recent project of mine.
It combines my love for music with my love for videogames.
That’s right, I’m talking about chiptune.
I bought a nanoloop 2.3 last week and I can safely say I’ll spend many hours thumbing at my GBmicro to make some tunes.
As a self imposed challenge, I decided to make a little ‘song’...

Hey Zed: Musashi grep Style
giles:
Re: The Book of Five Rings and The Barometer of Hacker News Knowledge Half-Life - The fast sword and the slow sword are the short sword and the long sword. The short is quick, the long is slow. For text search, the short sword is ack and the long sword is grep. More accurately, the long is `g+?`, an alias for `find . | xargs grep -sn “$1” | grep -v “.svn” | grep -v “.git”` and the long is...

A minha viding
Bom,

Announcing Markdoc
zacharyvoase:
I’m posting this to announce a project I’ve been working on for a few weeks now; something which has only just reached a state of relative stability and functionality. It started off slow, on October the 1st (it was a birthday present to myself), but I’ve since spent a lot of time tweaking, extending, refactoring and cleaning. I now think it’s ready for a public preview.

Indies Zero is an unexpectedly big deal →
tinycartridge:
I knew that Indies Zero was the company developing Retro Game Master for Namco Bandai, but it wasn’t until today that I finally got around to looking into their previous works.
I was… surprised. They’ve developed a lot of Nintendo’s high-profile DS software, including stuff like Electroplankton and Personal Trainer: Cooking (I guess contracted coding for EAD?) Is Indies Zero...
